As stated by the Cornell University Law School, “ judicial review is the idea, fundamental to the US system of govn’t, that the actions of the executive and legislative branches of government are subject to review and possible invalidation by the judicial branch” (law.cornell.edu).

Even though the Judicial Branch is the smallest in size and has smallest budget of any branch in our nation’s government, it exercises enormous power and is equal to other branches of the government because it has the power of Judicial Review. Judicial Review is the review by the US Supreme Court of the constitutional validity of a legislative act.

The judicial branch of the United States government oversees justice throughout the country by expounding and applying laws by means of a court system.1 This system functions by hearing and determining the legality of such cases.2 Sitting at the top of the United States court system is the Supreme Court.
